The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that begins on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ends on December 10th, Human Rights Day. The theme for this year, "UNITE! Invest to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls," serves as a harsh reminder of GBV's terrible impact and the vital need for prevention initiatives. But awareness is not enough. We must turn this awareness into action by calling for policy changes that protect survivors, develop an accountability culture, and empower communities to break the cycle of violence.
